Why Buy a Home with Land in Holland, Texas?

If you're dreaming of a peaceful place to call home, where wide-open skies meet small-town charm, Holland, Texas might just be your perfect match. Tucked away in Central Texas, Holland has a population of around 1,200 people — and that's part of what makes it special.

This friendly little town offers a slower pace of life, where neighbors wave, and you can still hear the crickets at night. But it's not just about the quiet — it's about freedom and space.

🕰️ A Little History

Holland, Texas is located midway between Austin and Waco, just ten miles east of Salado off Interstate 35. It began as a rich Blackland farming community, and its roots trace back to around 1860, when settlers formed a community along Darr’s Creek in southeast Bell County. Originally called Mountain Home — due to its proximity to Gotcher’s Hill — the area thrived.

In 1877, James R. Holland arrived and built a steam cotton gin a mile west of the original settlement. With cotton booming and railroad tracks from the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad being constructed, the town shifted and was renamed Holland in 1879, officially incorporating in 1891. Cotton was king — and the agricultural roots remain strong even today.
